Baseball Game. And A Day Out.

After laboriously completing our chores for the day, we piled into "Mama's blue car" and drove south to Carolina. Minor league baseball season is now upon us and the weather was being conducive to some comfortable viewing. A few contraband snacks packed away, a full bag of knitting for Mama, and several mitts for catching foul balls, and we're off!

Birthday

Opening presents.

New, sparkly shoes.

Eating cake.

Blowing out the candles!

I love this expression.

Oh boy! New toys!

Birthday lunch. From McDonald's. Now this, along with the Sprite in the cup, is a huge treat. We are the anti-McD.'s family usually.

The cake: Woofy Dog. Sorta looks like a squirrel.

Sarah's Birthday Present

Look, it even has an oven!

Bill and the boys used the sawmill to cut the cedar boards for this play kitchen. There's a bit of walnut used in it that they sawed as well. Since we are not a well-equipped wood shop, all of the construction had to be done by hand. Lots and lots of sanding, rubbing, measuring, and sawing.

I think it cost us about $15 total. That is certainly not including labor and time. That amount is priceless.

Oh, and because it's made of cedar, it makes my kitchen smell heavenly.

Cricket chirping....

Yep, we're still here. Just a busy few weeks with baseball, birthday projects, and a few sniffly littles. And maybe a faulty internal organ too. Gosh, I have loads of things to share so I'll upload pictures later today. Hopefully.

In the Sun

We played in the sun yesterday. In fact, we all got a little sunburned even.

Sarah ran around saying, "It's a hot day!" It really wasn't. But that doesn't stop her from running through the sprinkler.

Jack using the sprinkler on Sarah.

Action-man Jon. He is truly amazing.

Flower bed in bloom.

Knock-out roses are amazing. Easy to take care of, always blooming, and best of all, the Japanese Beetles don't ruin them like other roses.

After dinner on the deck, we headed to the ball field for Jack's game. Madeline offered to stay at home and watch Sarah so I had several hours of uninterrupted knitting time. Just lovely.

a bed made with dryed-on-the-line linens

laundry hanging on the line

a project that has been ripped out 3 times but is now on its way to being finished

a Sarah masterpiece

In The Navy: Part II

VA Beach is gross. It's dirty and sleazy.

This picture squished us and made us look funny. We look like midgets.

Uh oh. Stuck in a traffic jam on the way to Virginia Beach.

Hello, USS George H. W. Bush. You are big.

Coal loading depot. It was very black and dirty.

Beautiful, waterfront condos.

Largest container loading port on the East coast.
